6th Evgeny Svetlanov International Conducting Competition
6th Evgeny Svetlanov International Conducting Competition
Sat 5 Sep & Sun 6 Sep

The prestigious Evgeny Svetlanov International Conducting Competition comes to Birmingham for its 6th edition, in partnership with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) and the Symphony Hall.

Created in accordance with the wish of the legendary 20th-century conductor and composer Evgeny Svetlanov, the Competition is dedicated to discovering and supporting the next generation of outstanding conductors.

Founded in 2007 and held every four years, the Competition has previously taken place in Luxembourg, Montpellier, Paris (twice), and Monte-Carlo. Over the years, it has helped launch the international careers of many conductors.

Each performance reveals a distinct artistic voice and musical vision through a carefully chosen symphonic repertoire. At the end of the Finals, the audience of the Symphony Hall will vote for the Audience Prize.
